What is cosmetic dentistry?

“Cosmetic dentistry” is a category, not a single procedure. It covers anything done to improve the look of your smile — color, shape, alignment, gaps, chips, length. Some treatments are quick and inexpensive (bonding can fix a chipped tooth in under an hour). Others are bigger investments (a full smile makeover with veneers spans several visits).

The honest part most dentists won’t tell you: there are usually three or four ways to fix the same problem, and they range widely in cost and invasiveness. A good cosmetic dentist explains every option — including the less expensive ones — and helps you pick what actually fits your goals and your budget. That’s how we work.

Cosmetic Dentistry FAQs

The questions cosmetic patients ask us most.

How do I know what cosmetic treatment is right for me?

That’s exactly what the free consultation is for. You tell us what bothers you about your smile, we take a look and discuss every option — usually two or three different paths from different price points and timelines. You decide. No pressure.

Does insurance cover cosmetic dentistry?

Most dental insurance plans don’t cover purely cosmetic work (veneers for color, whitening, etc.). But several procedures we call “cosmetic” actually have functional components covered by insurance — bonding to repair a chip, crowns on damaged teeth, even Invisalign when it corrects a bite issue. We verify coverage on every procedure before quoting.

How much does cosmetic dentistry cost?

It depends entirely on the treatment. Whitening starts around $300-500. Bonding runs $300-700 per tooth. Veneers are $1,000-2,500 per tooth. A full smile makeover can range $10,000-50,000+ depending on scope. We offer in-house financing through CareCredit and have a membership plan for uninsured patients.

Will it look fake or “too white”?

Only if you want it to. Modern cosmetic dentistry — done well — should look like your teeth, just better. We use digital previews and wax-ups so you can see exactly what the result will look like before any tooth is touched. We err on the side of natural.

How long do cosmetic treatments last?

Varies by treatment: whitening lasts 6-24 months (touch-ups can extend it), bonding lasts 5-10 years, veneers last 10-15+ years, crowns last 10-20+ years. With good home care and regular cleanings, all of these can last longer.

Will it hurt?

Most cosmetic procedures are surprisingly comfortable. Whitening and bonding typically need no anesthesia. Veneers and crowns require some tooth preparation under local anesthesia — you’ll feel nothing during, and most patients have minimal soreness for a day or two after.
